When Johnny Depp was a teenager he had different dreams than being an actor. Depp dropped out of high school and formed his rock band, The Kids, when he was 15. The members of the band decided to move to Los Angeles and from 1980 to 1984 they played together until they split up. Depp married make-up artist Lori Anne Allison in 1983 and she was the one who introduced Depp to actor Nicolas Cage.

Cage encouraged Depp to start his acting career but he didn’t want to do it. One day, his friend Jackie Earle Haley asked Depp if he could go with him into his audition for Nightmare On Elm Street.
