Argentina has beautiful ranches, and Jose Antonio Nievas and his family were the proud owners of one. He had it all - animals, crops and even a beautiful scenery.
With a small stream running through the property, Jose likes strolling around the land. He planned to go along the stream that day and that is how it all changed his life…

Jose was going to have an unforgettable morning! He strolled by the stream of water and noticed something that was not always there.
The stream revealed a bump into the ground, so he got closer to take a better look. Little did he know his curiosity would turn his regular working day into a day he will never forget!

As he touched the bump into the wall of dirt, he noticed pieces of mud and small pebbles fell off into the stream.

As Jose kept peeling off the mud off the strange rock, he realized he was looking at a huge, round boulder. Touching it, he thought that was not really a rock.
Having absolutely no clue about what he was looking at, he decided to call his wife. You will not believe what happens next!

Reina recalls in an interview that her husband came rushing towards her saying: “Hey, I just found an egg that looks like it came from a dinosaur.”
"We all laughed because we thought it was a joke," she said. But by the look of his face they realized Jose wasn’t joking! How could that be possible?

Reina and the other family members got out and followed Jose to that ‘dinosaur’ egg. As they got closer, they saw their dog got nervous around that thing and began barking.
It was clear the Nievas family was not ready to handle this situation, so they called the police. But what could you say on the phone: ‘There’s an emergency… I’ve got a ‘dinosaur egg’ on my farm’?

How could someone call the police and say they found a dinosaur egg? They would immediately dismiss the call, thinking it is a prank. But Jose remained serious. That is when they realized he wasn’t actually pranking them!
Jose just said they have found something on their property and it looks too odd to be a rock. What was the police officers’ reaction?

As news of odd things usually travels fast, many people came to see the strange thing unearthed by Jose. They all took photos with the massive, otherworldly creature behind them.

As you can imagine, the entire village was stunned to see such a massive boulder. It was green and unlike any rock they have seen. Little did they know how lucky Jose was to discover it on his farm!
Meanwhile, at nearly 10,000 km away, a farmer in Michigan was going through the same confusion. Only his discovery was being done as he started digging in his soy field…

James Bristle started his morning just as Jose did. He was getting ready to dig in his soy field to place some natural gas pipes.
It was going to be an eventful day, but James had no idea how much eventful and surprising it would actually be!
#14. Getting It Done Before the Winter
The farmer from Michigan was planning to have all the work done before cold came. It was essential he finished the job before the first snow.
This meant he had to work all day long for the next few months, so he started early in the morning. He had no idea he had to put a stop to his work with that massive discovery he was about to make that day!

James took his backhoe to the spot he wanted to dig out and lay the pipes and began digging. He knew he was going to be on schedule.
Then, as the bucket of the backhoe scraped across a strange thing, he had to stop and check it out. Little did he know it was the beginning of an adventure he will never forget!

After he hopped from the vehicle, he got into the hole he made in the grown and carefully dug out until he reached the thing that made the strange noise.
He made sure it was not something dangerous like a very old bomb from the war. And that’s when he saw it… James was so shocked to see that he was holding a very important relic!
#11. Was It a Tree Root?
It looked a bit like a tree root, but the consistency was very different. It was not made from metal or rock. Cleaning it on his pants, he realized he was actually holding a piece of bone!
What confused him was that this bone was way too big to have belonged to a horse or a bull! He then called some friends to take a look and in no time, his farm and field was filled with confused neighbors…

Since nobody knew what that bone was, they told James to begin looking for more bones, maybe they would be able give them more hints about their origins.
Meanwhile, Jose was waiting for experts to tell him that his discovery was not of a boulder or of a dinosaur egg. It did have something in common with eggs and dinosaurs, though!

Archaeologists arrived at Jose’s farm and, as they got closer, it was obvious that the thing in the mud was not a rock or a dinosaur egg.

The archaeologists’ first theory was that this was some sort of shell, and it was very old. It did have the texture of a shell, but whose animal was it?
They had to dig out the whole thing and take it to the lab to examine it. That is when they would also find out its age! Get ready to be shocked!
#7. It Looked Like an Ancient Turtle!
"There is no doubt that it looks like a glyptodont," said paleontologist Alejandro Kramarz of the Bernadino Rivadavia Natural Sciences Museum.
The Glyptodont looked more like an ancient armadillo, and lived during the dinosaur age. In Michigan, James would also find out more about that strange and massive bone that he just dug out…
#6. What Was He Looking At?
James wondered what kind of bone that was and since he had the tools for it, he carried on digging out more bones.
He had the help of his neighbors, but as soon as he saw the situation was far too complicated, he realized he had to call in experts. It was obvious archaeologists had to be there and take over the digging!

In just a matter of hours, James’ discovery made it to national news, and got viral online. He had indeed stumble upon an ancient animal!
You see, archaeologists were stunned to see that the 10 feet deep dig site contained the remains of a woolly mammoth!

Believe it or not, archaeologists found a perfectly-formed skull with tusks after the bones that formed its rib cage were dug out!
