You’ve probably heard of the Easter Island Statues before. If you haven’t, you might be living under a rock. In case you are one of the latter, the Easter Island Statues are a set of 13-feet-tall monolithic human figures sitting on the Easter Island (surprise surprise) that were carved by the Rapa Nui people somewhere between 1250 and 1500. Other than this information, there is still quite a lot of mystery surrounding them, but we might have one less mystery left to solve. Researchers say they finally know why the statues are placed where they are.
