#25. Hell’s Kitchen
Hosted by professional chef Gordon Ramsay, the reality show Hell’s Kitchen doesn’t have its name for no reason. Based on a British series of the same name is a competition TV series in which every episode a group of chefs competes every week to stay in the program.
The contestants are divided into a group of two chefs and each group has to work together every week and win the weekly challenge. Ramsay is the perfect host to make their kitchen look like hell and every episode is full of energy and tension. The winning contestant would have the chance to open their own restaurant but during the process, you don’t want to make any mistake, especially with the undercooked beef wellington!
#24. Basketball Wives
Every time we see a professional athlete, many of us are wondering how is their life and especially their wife’s life. Well, Basketball Wives will respond to every of our questions related to the basketball world! The VH1 TV series was created by the ex-wife of NBA star Shaquille O’Neal and it’s a complete success around the world.
The TV series goes around the life of many basketball players’ wives and girlfriends and how they spend their days. Of course, you have drama and gossip but the reality show is something that you can’t miss. Some celebs of the show are Evelyn Lozada, Tami Roman, Tasha Marbury and Jackie Christie.
#23. True Life
Definitely the ‘90s were for MTV the decade of the reality shows, like the case of True Life, that was released in 1998. It has 20 seasons full of stories of random people that talk about a specific topic, like the first one where people talked about their addiction to heroin and the episode was called “Fatal Dose”.
Some topics were hard and complicated, others were heartwarming and some of them were very bizarre. Some of the best episodes were “I’m Addicted To Tanning” or “I Can’t Control My Pet”. In 2019, it was released a revival called True Life/Now.
#22. Cheaters
Who doesn’t remember the incredible and odd TV reality show Cheaters? Hosted by Joey Greco, the program followed people who were suspected of cheating their partners. We couldn’t expect anything intellectual or cultural, but Cheaters became one of the most-watched programs of the ‘00s.
Without social networks, Greco and his team had to do very hard work in putting hidden cameras and microphones to the suspects to see if they were doing something bad. The best part of the show was the end where everyone was reunited -we mean Greco, the suspect and its lover and the victim- and everything was chaos. Even in one episode, Greco got stabbed!
#21. 90 Day Fiancé
If you want to see drama, don’t miss the opportunity to see 90 Day Fiancé. The TLC TV series follows a few couples that applied for a K-1 visa, which is only valid for foreign fiancés of American citizens. Most of the couples were formed via the internet and the couples have only 90 days to get married.
What is most catchy about the TV show is that the couples don’t have the chance to not married, in fact, they made a promise to the government that in 90 days they would marry. Imagine knowing someone for the first time and married to him/her in 90 days! We promise this TV show is something to see.
#20. The Biggest Loser
The Biggest Loser is an inspirational reality show that follows the process of losing weight of contestants with overweight or that are obese. The winning contestant receives a cash prize but what is most important for this show is to see the personal process of all the contestants. For some of them, it could be really hard and painful.
All the contestants have the company of personal trainers and doctors that give them the best health and weight issues. What is most incredible to see is the final results of all of them! The Biggest Loser is a show that will give hope and energy.
#19. Blind Date
Before The Bachelorette/Bachelor existed, Blind Date was one of the first dating game shows. The eccentric Roger Lodge was the host of the program and the show was on the air from 1999 to 2006. Have you ever seen it?
In every episode, two strange people to each other were put on a blind date and they had to go on the date. Many of the contestants chose each other and sparks flew around and some of the dates ended in a disaster. It was incredible to see two people that look like the opposite together. At the end of it all, love is blind!
#18. Catfish
Based on the real-life experience of Nev Schulman, Catfish is definitely one of the best TV reality shows of all time. Schulman is the host of the program in the company of Max Joseph for seven seasons. The duo followed the truth and lie behind online relationships as one person contacted them and said that wanted to meet their online-love.
Schulman and Joseph had to do very hard work following the profile of the people and discover if they were lying or not and then, they set the scene for both people to meet. In the end, most of the people were lying about their real profile and was a big deception for the other person. Some of the stories were completely crazy and bizarre!
#17. The Osbournes
Who else remembers Ozzy Osbourne yelling “Sharooooooon”? If Ozzy’s voice came to your mind, probably you were a fan of the TV reality show The Osbournes. Created by MTV, the series follows the daily life of the Osbourne family: Ozzy, his wife Sharon Osbourne and their two children, Jack and Kelly. The Osbournes became the first TV series that showed the inside of a famous family.
We know the heavy metal family was not a conventional family but we couldn’t help falling in love with all of them. It was great to see the side-B of a heavy metal star as Ozzy, especially after his car accident in his home. Besides that, every member of the family nowadays is a consolidated celeb in Hollywood.
#16. The Simple Life
The Simple Life showed the life of two rich girls trying to learn how to live alone in their lives by working in low-paying jobs like farm work and serving food in a fast-food restaurant. At the same, the girls had to learn how to clean a house. In conclusion, they had to live like a normal adult.
But what it made this TV show more special is that the stars of it were the BFFs Paris Hilton, one of the heirs of Conrad Hilton, and Nicole Richie, the daughter of the singer and producer Lionel Richie. Surely the girls didn’t need anything but it was hilarious watching them trying to live a simple life.
#15. Rock Of Love With Bret Michaels
We know that finding true love it’s very hard for a rock star. That’s why Poison frontman, Bret Michaels, came out with the idea of creating his own dating game show to see if he could find “the perfect girl”. Rock Of Love With Bret Michaels was released in 2007 in VH1 and follows the adventures and drama of the 25 women that competed for Michael’s love.
Every week, the women had different competition and the best contestants of all would win the heart of Michaels. We have to say that we feel bad for Michaels as, during the three seasons, he chose a different girl and nowadays he’s not with any of them. Is it late to have a fourth season?
#14. The Apprentice
Donald Trump is currently the President Of The United States but before becoming it, Trump was a very famous celebrity in Hollywood. Knowing for his bizarre friends and costumes, Trump also was the host of the TV show The Apprentice. In case you don’t remember it, let’s see what was it about.
The contestants were unknown and famous people that wanted to work in the business so every week they were given different challenges and they had to show their skills for the business. Of course, it was drama, tears and tension in each of them and in the end of the contestant weren’t good enough, Trump said to him/her: “You’re fired!”.
#13. Hoarders
Nowadays we live with Mary Kondo’s phenomenon but back to 2009, Hoarders showed us what a messy house could cause into our lives. The TV show is not a funny or ordinary show, in fact many of its episodes are full of sadness and emotion. Hoarders follow the life of persons who suffer from compulsive hoarding disorder.
People called the show to ask them to help with their struggles. Some of them are helpful with the process and some of them denied everything. It’s hard to see people living around old newspapers, moldy food and sometimes animals. Surely, Hoarders, it’s a program to see and prepare tissues.
#12. The Surreal Life
The Surreal Life is perhaps one of the greatest TV reality shows of all time. We don’t know who had the fantastic idea of putting a group of celebrities in a big mansion in Hollywood Hills for two weeks but it worked out! During the six seasons, a group of celebrities shared their emotions, fears and thoughts while a camera followed each of their movements.
Every episode was a madness, like one of fourth season where Verne Troyer A.K.A Mini drunk so much that he ended riding his scooter naked. One of the best TV moments of all time.
#11. Little People Big World
Raise your hand if you haven’t cried with Little People Big World at least once? The TV series follows the daily life of the Roloff family. Its members are the parents Matt and Amy and their four children Zach, Jeremy, Molly and Jacob. Many of the episodes are focus on the personal issues of Zach who is a little person and his twin brother, normal-sized Jeremy.
During the six seasons, we see the value of the family and how important is to have someone who supports you. Incredibly, we watched Zach and Jeremy as teenagers and by the end of the show, they were married with their own children. Although Matt and Amy are no longer together, they are still a united family.
#10. Jon And Kate Plus 8
Another great show from TLC was Jon And Kate Plus 8. As you can read, Jon and Kate became famous around the world when Kate gave birth to six children at the same time. The couple had also two older children and with the sextuplets, it became a big family of 10 members.
It was one of the most-watched programs of TLC but everything started to go wrong when Jon and Kate decided to divorce. In some of the last season, we can see the couple fighting in front of the children and the sadness of them. The last episode of the TV show was Jon and Kate’s divorce. Very sad for a reality full of laughs and happiness. Soon after, Kate released Kate Plus 8 to show how a divorced mom could raise 8 children but people didn’t follow it.
#9. Top Chef
Not like the unpeaceful Hell’s Kitchen, the American reality show Top Chef is a program full of class and best chefs around the world that compete with each other making some of the best meals. Every contestant has to show their culinary skills in every episode.
Hosted by Padma Lakshmi along with the judges Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons, Top Chef will entertain you and make you wanna try the incredible meals. In addition, for every episode, it is used different locations making them more special. Don’t miss the last 8 best TV reality shows of all time!
#8. MADE
Another great and touching inspirational reality show was definitely MADE created by MTV. If you were born in the ‘90s, probably you watched MADE and got the inspiration and hope you needed for your life. The show followed the stories of young people that wanted to achieve their goals in life.
With the help of personal trainers and sometimes famous people, these young people had to go through a hard and personal process to made their dream come true. Some of the episodes included people that wanted to be a lifeguard, a class president, a dancer or a basketball player. Nothing was impossible for MADE.
#7. The Hills
Continuing with the ‘90s, if you were a teenager by the mid-2000s, probably one of your favorite TV shows was The Hills on MTV. The Hills were a spin-off of Laguna Beach and its stars were Lauren Conrad, Kristin Cavallari, Lo Bosworth, Spencer Pratt and Audrina Patridge.
The series follows the story of young women that live in Los Angeles, California and their professional and personal lives. Of course, every episode was full of fashion but also of love, drama and failed romances. Conrad rose to fame with the series and now is a fashion designer in Hollywood. Definitely, The Hills was part of a great era of reality shows.
#6. Dancing With The Stars
Based on a British dance competition TV show, Dancing With The Stars is one of the most successful programs in all America. Hosted by Tom Bergeron and different co-hosts, the show is a dance competition between different types of stars like actors, athletes and TV personalities.
Every week the contestants have to control the rhythm of the week and show their dancing skills. Every episode is full of color, rhythm and joy. What is more incredible is that every contestant became famous for their dancing skills and not for their profession.
#5. Duck Dynasty
One of the most successful series of all time is without a doubt Duck Dynasty on A&E. During 11 seasons, the shows followed the life of the Robertson family that lived in Louisiana and they are the creators of the famous Duck Commander. The TV series was on the air from 2012 to 2017.
The family created many products for duck hunters and the Robertson men are the ones who lead the company. They are all known because of their long beards and their conservative thoughts. The TV show is bizarre and full of hilarious moments, especially when the Roberston men go to a competition. The star of the show was definitely Uncle Si!
#4. Project Runway
Although if you aren’t devoted to fashion and beauty, you can’t miss the opportunity to see Project Runway starring the German supermodel Heidi Klum and the fashion consultant Tim Gunn. In every episode, the designers had a special challenge to show their designing skills and to captivate the relentless judge formed by Nina Garcia, Michael Kors and an invited famous.
The final episode consisted of creating a whole collection for the New York Fashion Week. In every episode, we see tears, drama and the creativity of the contestants. Any of the participants wanted to hear Klum’s words: “Auf wiedersehen”.
#3. Teen Mom
Teen Mom was a spin-off of the MTV TV show 16 & Pregnant and as you can imagine it followed the adventures and life of teenage moms. The reality show became a huge success around the world and it had sevens seasons in total. In each episode, we could see the difficulties of being a teenage mom.
There were many famous teenage moms from the seven seasons, like Farrah Abraham, Maci Bookout, Catelynn Lowell, Kailyn Lowry and Jenelle Evans. Besides having a baby at a very young age, the program also showed their personal lives and most of them had problems with drug abuse and wit their parents.
#2. Flavor Of Love
Perhaps one of the best and bizarre TV shows of all time was Flavor Of Love starring the rapper Flavor Fav. Like the singer Bret Michaels, Flavor Fav was looking for love after his failed romance with Brigitte Nielsen from the VH1 TV series Strange Love. Flavor Of Love became one of the most-watched programs of VH1 and it has a reason.
Wearing in every episode a over-sized clock, a crown and golden teeth, Flavor Flav had to choose one woman from 25 women that were fighting for his love. We can’t forget the fight between Pumkin and New York. In fact, New York was so hurt when Flavor Fav didn’t choose her that she released her own reality show “I Love New York”.
#1. Jersey Shore
We know that Italians and American-Italians are not like the stars of the MTV reality show Jersey Shore but Deena, Pauly D, JWoww, Sammi Sweetheart, Vinny, Snooki, Ronnie and Michael “The Situation” definitely won our hearts. The show followed this group of friends in their vacations in New Jersey, South Beach and even in Italy!
Their routine didn’t include more than going to the gym, tanning, eating Italian food, drinking and going to the club. Without a doubt, the vacation that many people wanted to have. The diary dramas and the romances between them made the show hilarious and something we couldn’t miss.
