#20. The Triplets With Blonde Hair and Blue Eyes
The Dahm triplets were born on a Monday night on December 12th, 1977. Their parents will never forget the time they first hold little Nicole, Erica, and Jaclyn in their arms. Everyone was surprised by the fact that the three babies were literally identical and equally beautiful.
It was even hard for the parents themselves to tell who was who! That's why they decided to tattoo an individual mark on the bottom of each child. Nicole got one dot, Erica got two, and Jaclyn none.
#19. The Attention
The triples grew up in Jordan, a small town in Minnesota, so naturally, they became the talk of the town. Every single one of the town's 30,000 inhabitants new their story, and even their names!
They three girls inseparable since they were toddlers, and they did everything together. They wore the same clothes, played with the same toys, and even went to the same high school. “We rarely hold our own identity. We were always known as ‘You three’ or ‘The Triplets", Nicole said.
#18. Teen Models
The model agencies didn’t take long to notice their beauty. After all, it's not so common to find three gorgeous triplets. They were only 16 when they made it to the front cover of Teen Magazine as the Great Model Search winners. But this was just the start.
Even though lots of modeling agencies would keep offering them job opportunities, they didn’t want to make a career out of that. In fact, their plan was to study nursing at university. But one day, a friend told them that Playboy was searching for models for the “Girls of the Big Ten Special Edition.”
#17. Trying It Out
After thinking it through, the three sisters decided to give it a shot. They went to the casting and went through a test shoot. They were also told they would have to decide whether or not they were willing to take their clothes off for the photoshoot.
After really thinking it through, the three sisters reached a unanimous decision. As Jaclyn told Playboy in an interview in 1998: >“(We) would never have modeled for Playboy as individuals.”
#16. A New Start
Without a doubt, they would receive plenty of opportunities in the modeling business if they were to appear in the centerfold for Playboy. And to their surprise, the whole gig was lots of fun! In Erica's words, the experience was "incredible and something I wouldn't change for the world".
And so, before they knew it, the triplets dropped out of nursing school to pursue a career in LA’s entertainment industry. They soon starred in TV shows like Boy Meets World, and they also participated in an episode of Family Feud.
#15. More Opportunities
Soon they were hired for a reality TV show on Fox called Renovate My Home, hosted by Jay McGraw. According to Erica, the first time that Jay knocked on her trailer door, it was love at first sight.
But what does Jay McGraw have to do with the triplets' DNA test? Well, Jay's father, Dr. Phil, was the executive producer of a famous medical show called The Doctors. As soon as they hit it off, Jay asked Erika if she would consider featuring in the show.
#14. The Triplets’ Health
Jay and Erica kept on dating and tied the knot in 2006. After getting married, Jay asked the triplets one more time if they were interested in featuring on his father's medical show to talk about their lives as triplets. And guess what? They agreed, and when the episode was aired, the show's rating rocketed!
The triplets talked about their medical medical similarities, their personality traits, and even about their plans of becoming parents themselves. But a few months after the episode was aired, the triplets came back to the spotlight... and here's why!
#13. Happiness Multiplied By Three
Sure, fans were amazed by how identical they all looked, but what really boosted their popularity was the fact that they all became pregnant at the same time! What are the odds?
The three sisters gave birth to their daughters in 2010 with only a few weeks' difference. And that's when the producers of the show came up with a clever idea. They wanted to call them back for another show... but what for, exactly?
#12. The DNA Test
It appears to be that the producers of the show wanted to investigate whether DNA and ancestry tests were reliable. DNA tests had recently become somewhat of a trend thanks to companies like 23andME, so having the triplets take a test and have them show the results live on TV would surely appeal the audiences.
To take the DNA test, you have to provide a sample of your saliva, and then, the company will have it decoded. The sisters did just that and waited a few weeks for the results. They weren’t expecting anything weird, but little did they imagine the mystery that was about to unfold.
#11. Who Would’ve Thought
The results came back within two weeks, and nobody doubted that they would indicate that they indeed shared the same DNA. However, journalist Lisa Guerrero reached some very curious findings.
The sisters had already shocked the world with their looks, but they never thought they would shock people again with some DNA test results. They sent the saliva samples to 23andMe, and the results were announced live on a special episode of The Doctors on March 2017.
#10. An Unexpected Turn
No one was surprised when the first results came, since they proved that the sisters were indeed identical. In fact, Erica's and Nicole’s fingerprints were almost identical.
That was the first test, now all that was left was the second one, which looked into their ancestry. That test looked at what countries their ancestors were from and their ethnicities. They were once again expecting nothing out of the ordinary, but things took an unexpected turn.
#9. The Differences
The first test showed that they were 99% European, but there were some weird revelations too. Erica was 16% British and Irish, Nicole was 8% British and Irish. But this was not all.
The audience was surprised to find out about the discrepancies between the triplets’ origins. All three of them had some percentages of German and French heritage, Nicole at 11%, Jaclyn at 18% and Erica 22.3%.
#8. Even More Differences
Erica and Jaclyn had the same percentage of Scandinavian heritage, 7.4%, but Nicole had 11.4%. According to this test, Nicole was 4% more Scandinavian than her identical sisters. A little hard to believe, right?
The sisters couldn't hide their awe, as they had always guessed their DNA was nearly identical. But the show's host Dr. Travis Stork said that these home-tests should only be used for entertainment and can't be used as real evidence for your heritage
#7. Were the Results Accurate?
Dr. Stork said that these tests are not advanced enough, so you can’t expect them to be 100% accurate. Bearing this in mind, it was understandable that the results had shown minor differences. “You can’t just spit in a cup and have every single answer that you are looking for”, the doctor said.
Journalist Lisa Guerrero also had her doubts, but she said she was interested in taking one of those test herself in the future. She said that she knew she was English on her dad’s side and Latina on her mom’s, but in spite of that, she wanted to know more.
#6. An Advanced Test?
However, when asked about this on the show, Lisa said she would rather have a more advanced test, one that involved doctors. And even though she knew these kinds of tests would cost more money, she was interested in learning why they were so popular.
The DNA test results shocked the sisters, but now they are trying to raise awareness about the limitations behind these kinds of DNA tests. And, as a matter of fact, a lot has changed since their appearance on the show.
#5. Where Are They Now?
But what do we know about our favorite triples nowadays? Well, they’re still beautiful, and they gave birth to more sons. The three of them are married, and each one of them has a daughter and a son. They proved the world that you don't need to take a DNA test to prove that you're identical.
But people always spread negative or false rumors about public or media personalities. As regareds Erica and Jay McGraw, they are still battling divorce rumors, very much like the case of Dr. Phil and his wife Robin.
#4. Wedding
Jay and Erica had a perfect wedding ceremony back in 2006. The ceremony was held at Beverly Hills, at the property of Dr. Phill and his wife. The ceremony had 400 guests, and Robin admitted that both her and her husband cried of joy.
Jay McGraw was asked how he had proposed to the love of his life. He said that he took Erica to Dallas, Texas, he later dropped down on one knee and, in his words, “I asked her to spend the rest of her life with me.”
#3. The Bride And The Bridesmaids
What made Erica's wedding so special was that her sisters were the bridesmaids. Never in the world had the bridesmaids looked so identical as on Erica's wedding! Erica wore a Chado Ralph Rucci gown, while her sisters wore a dress by Bradley Bayou.
Aver Elizabeth was born not too long after Erica and Jay got married. And in 2011, their third child, London Philip, was born. The children and the couple looked so happy together despite the rumors about the divorce.
#2. Dr. Phil
Dr. Phil has been involved with the couple from the start. He was very happy from the moment he heard that his son was going to propose to Erica. In fact, Dr. Phil was Jay’s best man at his wedding.
Jaclyn, in turn, met Billy Dolan, the man of her dreams, and they got married! They had two beautiful kids: a son and a daughter. You can see how much fun they have together on their social media, they're the cutest family.
#1. More Recently
The triplets have appeared on TV many other times, and the audiences always love them. Most recently, they starred in a Canadian TV show called Relic Hunter. And they even want to feature in Playboy magazine again.
And guess what? It's a known fact that they are good at modeling, but it turns out they are also good at cooking! You can see their recipes on their own YouTube channel, TripletsGourmet. Hopefully, we'll be hearing more about our favorite sisters!
