In one scene, John shoots a droid in the head, splitting it open. If you look closely, however, the droid’s head is already split open before John shoots him.
Mr. & Mrs. Smith
Mr. & Mrs. Smith is the movie that brought the iconic Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt together. It follows two secret agents who have been assigned to take the other out by their agencies.
The movie takes place in New York, but it is very clear that it was shot in Los Angeles. There are many dead giveaways throughout the film that destroy this illusion, such as low buildings, a lack of noise, and palm trees in the background.
American Sniper
American Sniper is a biopic about the deadliest marksman in military history, Chris Kyle, played by Bradley Cooper.
The film has many exciting action sequences and dangerous stunts but surprisingly, the editors made a mistake in one of the simplest scenes. Cooper can be seen cradling a baby that is clearly fake, and somehow, nobody noticed until the film was released.
The Dark Knight
The Dark Knight is considered by many to be the best Batman movie ever made. It received critical acclaim and also held the record for the highest opening for a movie at the time.
If you pay close attention to the scene where several headlines of the Gotham Times are shown, you may spot this mistake: the word ‘heist’ is misspelled.
Reservoir Dogs
It might be surprising to see another Quentin Tarantino film on this list since the director is known for his attention to detail. But, even though his movies are fantastic, they’re not free from mistakes.
In Reservoir Dogs, there is a scene in which police officer Marvin Nash is captured and has his hands cuffed behind his back. Seconds later, however, his hands appeared to be cuffed in front.
The Wizard Of Oz
The Wizard of Oz is a legendary film about a girl named Dorothy, who gets transported into a magical world where she must find a wizard to help her return home.
One of the most memorable elements from the movie is definitely Dorothy’s ruby slippers, which she must click together in order to go back home. In one scene, however, she is seen wearing black shoes.
Forrest Gump
Forrest Gump, starring Tom Hanks, takes us on a journey through Forrest’s life and all his amazing achievements. In one scene, he’s even asked by Apple to join the company as an investor.
That part of the story takes place in 1975, and Apple already existed at that time. However, the logo shown in the letter wasn’t invented until 1981.
Pirates Of The Caribbean
The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise gave us many exciting movies about Jack Sparrow, a reckless pirate who is always up to no good. One of the things that makes the character stand out is his signature look.
At some point, however, the costume department slipped up. The Adidas tag inside Johnny Depp’s hat was sticking out, and nobody working in the film noticed.
The Shawshank Redemption
The Shawshank Redemption, based on a Stephen King book, tells the story of a man who is sent to prison after being falsely convicted of his wife’s murder. There, he befriends another prisoner, and the two men develop a special relationship.
In one scene, the main character tries to escape from prison and uses a poster of Raquel Welch to cover his escape hole. The poster, however, is from the movie One Million Years B.C., which came out in 1966, while Shawshank was set in 1965.
Gladiator
Gladiator is an epic historical drama set in ancient Rome. Russell Crowe plays Roman general Maximus Decimus Meridius, who seeks revenge for the murders of his family members.
Obviously, gas canisters didn’t exist in 180 AD and yet, one can clearly be seen in the movie. Not only that but Crowe’s character is nicknamed ‘The Spaniard’ in the film, which is a word that didn’t exist until the 1300s.
The Shining
The Shining is one of the most famous horror movies ever made. Directed by Stanley Kubrick and based on a Stephen King novel, the film tells the story of a family man who slowly goes insane once he becomes the caretaker of an isolated resort.
Everything in the movie was carefully thought out and the number of details in the film is too high to keep count. Still, the editors seem to have missed one big detail: the hedge maze that appears in the movie cannot be seen in the exterior shots of the hotel.
Jurassic Park
Jurassic Park was praised not only for its story but for its incredible special effects. For a movie made in 1993, the effects are impressive and very ahead of their time. The film relied mostly on props rather than on CGI, which caused a big mistake to be made.
There’s a scene where some velociraptors are chasing the children in a kitchen. At one point, a crew member’s hand can be seen pushing one of the velociraptors into the kitchen.
Independence Day
Independence Day was a highly-anticipated film that met everyone’s expectations upon release. This epic science fiction movie is about a group of people who come together to save the world after an alien attack.
There was a small mistake in this movie that New Yorkers noticed right away. In one scene, the Empire State Building is located on 53rd street, when in reality, it is located on 34th street.
Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is the final movie in the Harry Potter franchise. It brings the overarching story to an end and reveals that Professor Snape was in love with Harry Potter’s mother the whole time.
In one scene, Snape tells Harry, who has blue eyes, that he had his mother’s eyes. Right after that, Harry’s mother is shown, and her eyes are clearly brown.
Halloween
In Halloween, six-year-old Michael Meyers is sent away to an institution after murdering his sister. Years later, he escapes and goes back to his hometown to look for new victims.
This terrifying movie takes place in a fictitious town in Illinois, but the palm trees in the background reveal that the movie was shot in California.
300
300 is a historical action film that tells the story of King Leonidas, who leads an army of 300 Spartans to battle against the Persians.
This battle was impressive but unrealistic. In one scene, the army throws bombs, which did not exist at that time, as gunpowder wasn’t invented until the 9th century.
Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is the third Indiana Jones movie. It follows the world’s most famous archaeologist as he sets off to Germany to free his father from the Nazis.
Although the movie is very exciting to watch, it is not historically accurate. The movie is set in 1933, but there’s a scene involving a book-burning rally that actually happened in 1938.
Titanic
Titanic was the highest-grossing film of its time and is now a beloved classic. This timeless love story is based on the sinking of the Titanic, which took place in 1912.
In one scene, Jack, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, talks about how his father used to take him fishing in Lake Wissota, but that lake wasn’t formed until 1917.
Back To The Future
Back to the Future is one of the most iconic movies of all time. It tells the story of Marty McFly, a teenager who accidentally travels back in time and must figure out a way to get back to the future.
Towards the end of the movie, Marty plays a Gibson ES-345 guitar at the high school dance where his parents fell in love in 1955, but this model wasn’t produced until 1958.
Braveheart
Braveheart, starring Mel Gibson, is a historical fiction war film based on the life of William Wallace, a 13th-century Scottish warrior in the First War of Scottish Independence.
While the film was a huge success, it did include several mistakes. The biggest criticism that people had about the film was the fact that the Scots were wearing kilts, which did not exist until the 1600s.
The Hurt Locker
The Hurt Locker follows Sergeant First Class William James, the leader of a bomb disposal unit during the Iraq War. His tendency to take risks ends up sending the whole squad over the edge.
The story is set in 2004 and yet, the characters can be seen playing the Xbox 360 at one point. This console was released in 2006, and people on the internet were quick to point that out.
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective was one of the first movies Jim Carrey was in, and it helped make him the star he is today. In it, he plays Ace Ventura, an animal detective who must find the Miami Dolphins’ mascot, who has been abducted.
The abducted dolphin speaks ‘dolphin tongue’ while it’s out of the water, which is impossible in real life. Dolphins can only communicate with each other underwater.
Malcolm X
The biographical drama Malcolm X is about the life of the famed civil rights activist, played by Denzel Washington. The film was received well by both critics and viewers, but it did not get every single detail about Malcolm’s life right.
For example, there is a chronological mistake in the scene where Malcolm calls 911. At that time, the emergency number was not established until 1968, three years after Malcolm was assassinated.
Panic Room
Panic Room, starring Jodie Foster and Kristen Stewart, tells the story of a mother and daughter who lock themselves in their home’s panic room during a violent home invasion.
During the climax of the film, the intruders flood the panic room with propane, and Foster’s character ignites the propane using a lighter. This makes the propane burn along the ceiling and allows her to crawl on the floor and escape. This, however, is impossible, as propane is heavier than air and would sink to the floor rather than rise up to the ceiling.
Pretty Woman
Julia Roberts’ illustrious career as a leading lady was launched by Pretty Woman, a romantic comedy about a rich man who hires an escort to accompany him to social events and the two eventually fall in love.
In one scene, Roberts can be seen taking a bite out of a pancake. But as the shot changes, suddenly the pancake is whole again.
The Goonies
The Goonies is a 1985 film about a group of kids who discover an ancient map and set out on a wild adventure to find a pirate’s long-lost treasure.
The movie ends when the kids are interviewed by reporters, and they tell them all about their crazy adventure. One of them talks about fighting an octopus, but that wasn’t shown in the movie, as that scene was deleted from the final cut.
The Usual Suspects
The Usual Suspects follows the interrogation of one of only two survivors of a massacre. This leads five criminals to find each other and plan a dangerous heist.
There is a scene that involves a Boeing 747, which has four engines. The following scene, however, shows that the plane only has two engines.
The Patriot
The Patriot, starring Mel Gibson, is about a widowed farmer with a dark military past who sets off to save his son, who has been captured by British soldiers. Although swore he would never fight again, he is ready to do what it takes to get his son back.
The story takes place over the course of several years, but the makeup department failed to make the characters look older as the years go by. This makes it very hard to follow the story.
