The bodies of the three men were discovered on July 3. Siller was also Pinetree’s director of golf and was pronounced dead at the scene due to an “apparent gunshot wound to the head.” Investigators are still following leads and have not released any suspect’s name yet.

Trump’s Allies May Be Ensnared In January 6 Investigation

Recently, Kevin McCarthy, House Minority Leader, maintained that he’d have no problem speaking to anybody about his conversations with former President Donald Trump on January 6. His statement may soon be tested. As the investigation into the Capitol riots led by the Democrats unfolds in the coming months, several Republicans, including McCarthy, could get caught in the crosshairs. However, Republicans are prepping their own strategy once McCarthy names his picks. According to GOP sources, they want to focus on the steps that Speaker Nancy Pelosi took or didn’t take to secure the Capitol building that day. The panel of lawmakers investigating the deadly attack are looking to find answers about the January 6 insurrection. The probe will begin with US Capitol Police officers’ testimony about their experiences that day.

In addition to the main causes of the insurrection, Democrats on the committee have stated that they plan to explore the reasons behind a string of law enforcement and intelligence failures. That means that in the weeks ahead, the Democrat-led panel may reach out to Republican lawmakers who not only sought to overturn the election results that day but also constantly communicated with the former President and his team. About calling GOP lawmakers, Mississippi Rep. Bennie Thompson, the Democratic chairman of the select committee, told CNN that they need to have access to all the available information. But Republicans have cautioned that calling in GOP lawmakers could ignite a tit-for-tat situation that would lead to demands for Pelosi’s testimony. Rep. Kelly Armstrong, a Republican from North Dakota, stated, “The minute you start calling members from the other party, you’re going to escalate it into exactly what my colleagues are concerned about.”

Here’s What’s Happening With Your Stimulus Check

With new unemployment claims at an all-time low since the beginning of the pandemic, many are wondering if talk of the fourth stimulus check will come to an end. President Joe Biden and a bipartisan group of senators recently agreed upon the details of a possible infrastructure deal. However, the proposal did not include anything that resembled additional economic stimulus for families or individuals. In early June, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said President Biden was “open to a range of ideas” with regard to the stimulus aid, but she added that he had already suggested what he felt would likely be “the most effective for the short term.” Whether in the form of multiple payments or as a one-time payment, some lawmakers have been urging the Biden administration for additional financial relief, citing support from financial analysts and the general public. But others in Washington believe that as the financial situation improves, additional stimulus money should not be a top priority.

Are more stimulus payments still on the card? Since the American Rescue Plan came into effect in March 2021, the Biden administration has put together two packages – the American Jobs Plan and the American Families Plan. Neither of these two plans calls for more stimulus aid. That said, the White House could provide more money to those in need as part of a broader economic strategy by making the child tax credit raise permanent, passing a minimum wage hike, or renewing federal unemployment assistance beyond the fall. Experts believe that since some relief money has already been approved this year, it is unlikely that the Biden administration will issue a fourth stimulus payment.

Magnitude 6.0 Earthquake Shakes Parts of the West

A pronounced tremor on July 8 took residents in parts of western U.S. by surprise. No serious damage or injuries were reported right away. The tremor was caused as a result of a Magnitude 6.0 earthquake (that was first noted as M5.9) close to the California-Nevada border.

Within the next two hours, over 30 aftershocks followed. Social media users in the region, as well as a few National Weather Service offices, shared that they experienced the shaking.
