DEER ON THE TRACKS

Spokesman-Review

Jared Twedell from Grants Pass Oregon was driving to his local recycling center. He was just at the gate when his eye caught some sort of movement near the railway tracks. His first analysis was that it was a deer. But, the story was much deeper.

WHISTLING

The Dodo

Twedell made a move for the tracks. He decided to whistle to see if the animal would jump off the tracks, but as he moved closer, he saw what the animal actually was.

IT WAS A DOG!

As he was whistling, Twedell saw the creature’s ears shoot up. He saw that it wasn’t a deer, it was actually a dog. And, then he noticed something dreadful.

TIED UP

The Dodo

The dog was tied, yes, tied to the railway tracks! Some monster had tied this dog to the tracks and Twedell immediately went into panic mode. The dog tried to move towards Twedell, but the rope didn’t allow him to.

TRAINS

According to Oregon’s schedule, a train passed three times through that area in one day. However, Twedell wasn’t sure when the next train was scheduled. He realized he had to save the dog and he had to do it fast.

LITTLE BUDDY

The dog was scared and he was clearly trying to figure out whether Twedell was a hostile or a friendly. Twedell went forward, patted his leg and said “Hey, little buddy”. The dog wagged his tail in response and Twedell realized that the dog would be okay if he was approached.

EXHAUSTED

It was apparent to Twedell that the dog was tired. He was left on the tracks for quite some time and upon further inspection, it became clear that this was not an accident.

PURE EVIL

Twedell realized that the rope was tied in a figure eight. This type of knot is used to tie boats to docks. It was obvious that someone had did this on purpose. Someone wanted to make sure that the dog was crushed by a train.

GOING HOME

The Dodo

Twedell decided to take the dog home and wanted to include him in his family. The dog was ironically named Train till Twedell’s family thought that Samson was a much better name.

Samson’s new family had quite the list of pets. Twedell had two dogs, several cats and a Flemish Giant Rabbit. And, Samson became friends with all of them.

According to Twedell, the dogs have been getting along amazingly. They haven’t been doing anything other than playing and are pretty much inseparable. No doubt Samson was the perfect family dog!

GROWING UP

The Dodo

Samson was pretty skinny at the tracks, once he was fed well, it was clear that this little fella was about to be a huge dog.

A GREAT DOG

J Twedell

There’s no question that Samson would be dead if it wasn’t for this hero. But, Twedell said that the dog has someone watching over him.
