20. THE ORPHAN
This little chihuahua was orphaned in a car accident. Some passerby saw the little puppy wriggling along the side of the road and thought that he should lend a helping hand. The person took him to the Michigan Humane Society in the hope that there will be a home for him somewhere.
19. STRUGGLING TO SURVIVE
Even though the pup was in good hands, the folks at the shelter tried but the little guy had lost his mother while he was just two days old. And such a young ling cannot survive without his mother.
18. A TINY PUP
At this point, the puppy needed a nursing dog. A two day old puppy can’t eat solid food, he needed milk. The staff named him Bobby and they continued to wonder what their next move will be.
17. CONSTANT ATTENTION
Bobby needed a mother. It would’ve been a really simple task if there was a dog in the shelter who recently had kids, but unfortunately, there wasn’t one that could take Bobby in. But, there was a nursing cat, and well, the shelter made the best with what they had.
16. FITTING RIGHT IN
The staff at the shelter had the idea that they could try to get the cat to take in the puppy. A mother’s maternal instincts kick in as soon as they see an abandoned orphan. And, that’s what was going to happen in the case of Bobby.
15. TINY BOBBY
After that, it was obvious that Bobby had found a family. The social media of the shelter was full of pics of these kittens and the dog together in the same crate. And, they’re adorable.
14. WHY NOT JUST BOTTLE FEED?
Bottle feeding is a good option, but not in all cases. Employee at the shelter, Faith O’ Georgia discussed this and said that bottle feeding would’ve had some risks and besides, the shelter didn’t have the resources or the experience to feed a small pup dozens of times in a day. Kittens and pups aren’t like adults, they aren’t going to eat three meals a day and that is what makes things complicated.
13. AN INGENIOUS IDEA
The idea was just great. There have been other cases where a mother that recently gave birth took in babies even though they weren’t from her own species. And, O’ Georgia was ecstatic to find out that the same happened with Bobby.
12. EXCEEDING EXPECTATIONS
They did have an idea that the cat would show affection for a tiny animal without his mother, but no one knew that this is how far the kitty’s affection would go.
11. TREATING BOBBY LIKE HER OWN
Basically, if there’s anything mothers do for baby kittens, the mother did it for Bobby. It was truly an adorable sight looking at the mother cleaning kittens and then licking the dog too.
10. MILK FOR EVERYONE!
The Mommy, Gwen, didn’t shy away from feeding a dog. She had just enough milk to accommodate for an extra member to her family.
9. THE KITTENS LOVE HIM TOO
If you thought that just the mother would accept Bobby, you would be wrong. The kittens were more happy to play with Bobby than they were while playing with their own siblings.
8. FOSTER CARE
The folks at the shelter explained that Bobby is going to have to stick in the shelter for some time. Once he’s independent, he’ll be shipped off to another family.
7. LEARNING HOW TO BE A DOG
Living with cats really takes away the natural instincts of a dog. The shelter was looking for a family with several other dogs so Bobby could learn back his natural instincts.
6. BOBBY WILL LIVE
As soon as the pup can live off of solid food, he and the cat will be separated. It might seem sad, but the shelter has said that separating them will be good for both parties.
5. CAT FRIENDLY
I know most parents out there might be concerned about bringing in a dog with pet cats, but I can say one thing for certain, the owners that get Bobby aren’t going to have that problem.
4. FOSTER CARE
Eventually Bobby grew up and went into foster care. It was reported by the shelter that he was doing okay but still needed some time to adjust to the new home.
3. REMEMBERING THE FAMILY
Bobby stayed with the foster family for a month and learned a lot of canine abilities. But, deep down, he still held a special place for Gwen and the kittens, the only family he’s ever known.
2. RENAMED TO LEMMY
Just a month into foster care, Bobby was adopted by a guy named Marc. He renamed him to Lemmy and just look at how happy Lemmy is at the moment.
1. CATS AND DOGS CAN BE BEST FRIENDS
We’ve all heard that cats and dogs are mortal enemies, but this story is evidence that not all cats and dogs are destined to fight each other like Tom and Spike. Some even bond for life…
