Preventing the Swine Flu

It is very important to know the common ways to prevent the swine flu (also known as H1N1) so here are a few tips.

Did you know only 60% of people wash t[removed][removed]heir hands after going to the bathroom?!! If you are apart of the 40% that fail to wash up, please change this bad habit. As obvious as it is, not washing your hands spreads germs, and spreading germs will spread a virus. This is the most important factor in preventing the Swine Flu.

When you sneeze or cough, cover your mouth. But wait! Not with your hands. Use the inside of your elbow in order to keep the germs on you and only you. Once they’re on your arm, they won’t be travelling far. But if you sneeze into your hands they can spread through a hand shake, door knobs and so on.

Get enough sleep to prevent getting sick in the first place. It is important to have a healthy immune system to fight this virus. If you are feeling sick, sleep deprivation may be one of the reasons why, so rest up!

It is also important to keep bedding, towels and clothing extra clean. Wash more than you normally would, clean more than you normally would and be cautious of the germs you can be spreading just in your own home.

It is vital to isolate yourself for 24 hours if you do get sick. This virus is very contagious and will spread quickly! Remember that you can be contagious for up to ten days.
