The Greatest American Hero: This Is The One The Suit Was Meant For

The Greatest American Hero: This Is the One the Suit Was Meant For is a pivotal episode for the lovebirds of Ralph Hinkley and Pamela Davidson, as played by series’ stars, William Katt and Connie Sellecca.  Since the beginning of the series they’ve been boyfriend and girlfriend with talk of marriage.  At one point, they became engaged in a sort of off-handed way.  It’s like a couple who is together and expected to get married, but they never actually have that big moment with the proposal.

In this hour drama, Pam is tired of playing second fiddle to the space suit that Ralph wears, giving him the capability to fly, turn invisible, see visual holograms and the like.  When a planned vacation doesn’t go as hoped, Pam actually breaks it off with Ralph.

FBI agent Bill Maxwell (Robert Culp) is a part of the conflict, of course.  He’s all about getting the bad guys and doesn’t quite understand why Pam would be put out.  Actually, I was always a little surprised at how Ralph wasn’t as argumentative as I would have thought.

Ultimately, the show’s climax in terms of the romance is huge.  I was glad to see it happen and progress as the final episodes aired on TV.
