#20. Losing His Hope
A man from Spain found himself without a home after years of being a homeowner. It was all because of depression which lasted for years, leading him to a life on the streets. He’s been homeless for 25 years, but before that he was actually a skilled electrician!
Depression took over his life and one day he couldn’t find the will to get up from the bed and function like a normal man in his thirties… He lost his job and when he couldn’t provide for himself anymore, he ended up on the streets.
#19. He Was Only 30 Years Old
When Jose became homeless, he was only 30 years old. He did find some jobs and was able to make money as a parking attendant in Majorca. It wasn’t much, but he could buy the food he needed to survive…
Over the next years, people grew accustomed with the sight of Jose and they even called him Josete. The people in Palma would always pass by and say hello to him since he was a familiar sight. Then, one day a woman came up to him and proposed something that would completely change his life!
#18. His Interest In Life Was Gone
Jose explained in a later interview how much depression had taken a toll on him. “With the depression, I’d basically lost interest in life and the way I looked and had health problems I wasn’t dealing with,” he said to the local media who was impressed by his makeover…
As you can see, the years he had spent on the streets took a toll on him. But after the makeover, all the people that came to say hi were now confused - they didn’t even recognize him! How was that even possible? Let’s see the whole process, which was documented on social media!
#17. Eternally Grateful
“I’ll be eternally grateful to them. It’s not just a change of looks. It’s changed my life,” said Mr. Antonio Jose about the new look he had received. And as he looked at the new him, his reaction was more than incredible, and for a good reason!
You see, right before the makeover, Josete has had a rough time. He had been living in an abandoned house which had recently been brought down by the floods. Now he had absolutely no shelter and it seemed like he couldn’t catch a break…
#16. The Proposal That Turned His Life Around
“Parking cars and being like that does not make anyone happy,” said Josete. It was indeed time to make a change and when a woman called Salva Garcia approached him, he couldn’t say no…
You see, Garcia was the owner of a hair salon called ‘La Salvajeria’. She told Jose that she was willing to give him a new look for no money. She wanted to document the whole thing on camera so others could so how much a man could change after a makeover. Let’s check the photos at the salon!
#15. He Knew He Didn’t Belong There
As Josete got inside the hair salon with Garcia, he knew he didn’t belong there. He sat on the chair and listened to Garcia’s offer. For no cost at all, he had to let her give him a makeover head-to-toe. What did that mean?
That meant he not only got a new haircut, he was also going to get a shower his nails trimmed and new clothes! Josete agreed, hoping this could help him find a new job. He had no idea that a few hours later, the man in the mirror was himself!
#14. Jose Wasn’t Old!
Looking at the way Jose appeared with that long hair and beard, you’d say he was around 60 or 70 years old. But can you believe he was only 55? Sitting on that chair, he took one last look at the mirror before getting his look. He told to the cameraman…
“Leave the doors over the mirror open for the moment so I can see myself for the last time like this.” His words brought tears to the ones in the hair salon who were eager to see the new Jose!
#13. Telling His Story
It was then when he began telling his story that led to him becoming homeless 25 years ago. He said that he knew first impression was essential and the way you look affects how people feel about you. This is why he agreed to the transformation.
As you can see, Jose was very smart and wise. He took a look in the mirror and then told Garcia to close the doors over the mirror: “close them to see if when they open again, it’s as if something else really opened up in my life, like a symbol.”
#12. A Long Time Since He’d Had a Haircut
It was obvious Jose hadn’t cut his hair or beard for quite some time. That’s because as a man without a home, he had to focus more on earning enough money to survive. Good looks weren’t his goal, but it was what kept him from getting more from this life…
Jose couldn’t make himself look good in those circumstances, which is why he let Garcia take care of him that day. The man thought this makeover could make him look and feel better, but had no idea that his transformation would make him cry tears of joy!
#11. He Was Nervous
It was the first time Jose stepped into a salon and was obviously nervous about the whole thing. He thought a free makeover was a good idea, but as the stylist took the scissors and began cutting his hair and beard, he became anxious…
What if he won’t look as good as he thought? Would he look great and improve his chances of getting a job? All the while, Garcia’s team worked together. The magic was about to start and Jose was clueless about his transformation.
#10. Bringing Back His Youth
Because Jose’s hair was so white, it made him look a lot older than he really was. This is why the team decided to add some color back into his hair. They took their time, but the results were incredible!
Jose did not know, but his new hair would make him look as if he was 20 years younger! The transformation was far from being over… The stylist had a few more adjustments to make.
#9. Grooming the Beard
Instead of completely shaving Jose, the stylist decided to trim it and color it to match the hair color. With such a groomed beard, Jose would look like a model! He couldn’t wait to see himself in the mirror!
What he didn't know was that his change was going to be so radical that he would stare at the mirror and wonder who that person really was. His reaction when he watched himself in the mirror was priceless!
#8. The Final Touches
All those years on the streets were stressful and hard enough for Jose. He clearly deserved some pampering at the salon. The team also made sure to pluck a few loose eyebrows before the final reveal…
Jose’s head felt lighter with his shorter hair, and all those tough years on the street seemed to vanish from his face. Jose was left breathless!
#7. Before and After
The photo on the left shows us how Jose looked before the makeover and the one on the left is how he looked after the day at the salon! He was wearing the same clothes for the past few years and now he was a new man!
With a fresh and clean look, Jose was finally going to start anew. His reaction when he looks at himself in the mirror is incredible! He didn’t even recognize himself…
#6. He Began Crying
As he looked at the man in the mirror, Jose’s eyes welled up with tears. He said to the cameras: “My God, this is incredible, is this me? I’m so different, no one’s going to recognize me unless I tell them who I am.”
He would soon learn that he was right! Not even his best friends recognized him when he showed up in the spots where he usually helped drivers park their cars. With a pair of glasses and new clothes, he;d stun everyone!
#5. “It’s Not Me!”
“I have totally changed. It’s not me!” said Jose looking at himself in the mirror! But with his new look, his posture changed and he seems a lot more confident. It looked like this makeover transformed Jose’s self-esteem as well…
The old Josete went back to the neighborhood and with a huge smile on his face, he passed by the people that usually said hi. They didn’t recognize him, not until he began talking!
#4. A New Man
Jose was wearing a white t-shirt and trendy pants, along with a pair of glasses. He was hanging out at his regular place and the people walking by him didn’t realize that it was the old Josete… One friend asked where did Josete hide his Ferrari and he began laughing!
Then, Jose headed over to a local bar where he would pass by before. He sat at a tale and ordered a beer. The waiter brought his order and didn’t even say a word to him…
#3. It’s Me, Josete!
The waiter ignored Jose, but that’s because he didn’t recognize him! Usually, the waiter would talk to him, but this time he didn’t say a word. Then, Jose asks him: “Do you not recognize me?” The waiter stared at him for a while.
“I do know you now!” said the waiter shocked to realize that the man in front of him was his pal Josete! Meanwhile, women were speechless, saying Josete was now a handsome man!
#2. The Spanish Hugh Jackman
The locals gave Jose a new nickname - “Spanish Hugh Jackman,” since he looked like the actor. Thanks to this transformation, he now has a home and a job thanks to a company that had offered him a job!
“It wasn’t just a change of look. It changed my life,” he said to the cameras. All he wanted was a new chance at a normal life and he got it with the help of Garcia and her team! What’s he been doing lately?
#1. The Spanish George Clooney
Jose has kept that look for a while and then decided to keep his silver fox hair, becoming the Spanish George Clooney. With a clean cut look, and a trimmed beard, he leads a much better life now that he is in good spirits.
With this stunning makeover, Jose is now a new man. He has a home and a stable life and job, with a company that helps him stay on his feet. We’re grateful for Gracia and La Salvajeria for their kindness since it was their idea that helped change a man’s life!
