#20. Charlize Theron And Tom Hardy
Like Star Wars or Indiana Jones, Mad Max is one of those famous franchises that everyone knows about. Perhaps the best out of its 4 adrenaline-filled movies is Mad Max: Fury Road, which received a whopping 10 Academy Award nominations.
Considering all of those post-apocalyptic scenes were filmed in a desert, it’s understandable that the long process took its toll on the actors. Fatigue and stress were probably two of the reasons why Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron couldn’t get along. It’s true that the stars of Mad Max: Fury Road didn’t hit it off, but Tom Hardy did tell Charlize that he admired her entrancing performance, kudos to them for not letting the bad blood affect their mutual respect as fellow actors!
#19. Dwayne Johnson And Tyrese Gibson
Talking about successful franchises, the creators behind Fast And Furious seem to have worked out exactly what their audience wants. With big explosions, frenetic chases, and charismatic actors like Dwayne Johnson and Tyrese Gibson, those box-office records will get broken in a blink of an eye.
Most people tend to assume that the stars of the franchise are close friends in real life. Well, this has always been the rule… until The Rock threw an indirect shot at Tyrese during an interview, complaining about his lack of professionalism.
#18. Ryan Gosling And Rachel McAdams
The beef only grew with Tyrese’s response, when he took it to Instagram to accuse The Rock of trying to make the famous franchise about himself only. Another surprising feud was the one between Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, who co-starred in The Notebook.
It seems Ryan and Rachel had to bring the best out of themselves in each romantic scene since they actually hated the other’s guts! Things slowly started to pick up, and they eventually fell in love with each other. What a plot twist, right?
#17. Robert Downey Jr And Terrence Howard
The dispute between Robert Downey Jr and Terrence Howard is a bit more dramatic than the previous ones. Their close friendship quickly turned sour after, according to Terrence, the star of Iron Man chose to forget the help he had received from his pal to get the big part.
But it’s not like Robert forgot to thank him, it’s a bit worse than that… Terrence accused him of betrayal. Indeed, Howard affirmed that Downey Jr conspired to leave him out of the sequel in order to grab a greater share of the money, and the movie’s producers chose Don Cheadle to replace him.
#16. Bette Davis And Joan Crawford
Just so you know, we’re just getting started! The rivalry between Bette Davis and Joan Crawford has got to be one of the most unforgettable fights between legendary actresses. Their mutual hate started off as something that didn’t seem too big of a deal.
That’s right. At first, the reason behind Davis’ dislike towards Crawford was that she considered the journalists’ praise for her skills to be unfounded. However, the feud escalated quickly when Clark Gable (who Joan had a crush for) spent a night with Bette.
#15. Angelina Jolie And Johnny Depp
The feud reached its tense climax when both actresses co-starred in What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? yet only Davis received a nomination for Best Actress. Another duo that could’ve been a deadly combination on the screen (if they had had better chemistry) is Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie.
Expectations were high for The Tourist: the romantic film came out three years after Depp’s inspired performance in Sweeney Todd, while Angelina had recently shined in Mr. and Mrs. Smith. What could go wrong with such a cast? Everything, apparently. Jolie was disappointed with the actor’s shape, and he did his best to evade her on set.
#14. Lucy Liu And Bill Murray
Charlie’s Angels was another movie with a tension-filled set. Many people have claimed that Bill Murray is hard to work with, and it seems that him and Lucy Liu had a bit of an argument offset, and it somehow resulted in fists being thrown!
Not only that, but Lucy and Bill have totally different versions of the incident. She swears the famous comedian told her she sucked at acting, while, according to Bill, he asked her if she really wanted to say the silly lines she had been given.
#13. Claire Danes And Leonardo DiCaprio
Sorry Bill, but I think I’m gonna go with Lucy’s version of the episode because nobody would hit a co-star in the stomach for such an inoffensive question! But compared to this quarrel, the problems between Leo DiCaprio and Claire Danes were a bit more complex.
The young stars were filming Romeo and Juliet when a 16-year-old Claire fell in love with Leo, who was 22 at the time. Yes, Claire had a crush on Leo, but she was also fed up with his immature attitude, while he was annoyed by her arrogance.
#12. Bill Murray And Chevy Chase
Lucy Liu isn’t the only one who has had a fight with Bill Murray in the Hollywood world. Every producer who has worked in Saturday Night Live remember this unforgettable brawl: when Chevy Chase returned to the show as a guest-host, two years had already passed since he quit SNL in 1976.
Backstage, he met Bill, the man who had replaced him. When Chase began to quarrel with part of the crew for his abrupt departure, Bill interceded and insulted him. According to the people who witnessed this, hell immediately broke loose on the set!
#11. Sarah Jessica Parker And Kim Cattrall
There were no punches involved between Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall… yet, there’s nothing but bad blood between the Sex and the City stars. It seems both actresses have never liked each other, but they concealed this reality for over a decade.
It seems reasonable since the show was doing great and they probably wanted to avoid a public beef that would only create drama and upset their fans. However, when a third Sex and the City movie was finally canceled, Sarah confessed that they were never friends and that she wished Kim had been nicer to her.
#10. Shannen Doherty And Jennie Garth
And what about Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty? They sure seem close in the picture, isn’t that so? These two have known each other for a long time, since now distant days of the 90210 series. In 2014, Jennie finally budged and answered questions about their conflict.
Jennie Garth confirmed what everybody thought, she and Shannen Doherty never stood each other. However, there were also times where the actresses could go from hate to love in a matter of seconds… guess they were enjoying those calm days when that photo was taken!
#9. Stana Katic And Nathan Fillion
Remember the ABC show Castles? If you were one of the series’ many fans who enjoyed it from 2009 to 2016, you surely recall the shocking news of Stana Katic’s departure. Twitter went crazy with the rumors: Stana was leaving because the tension with Nathan Fillion was insufferable.
Apparently, those rumors were true: several media outlets confirmed that the stars of Castles never spoke a word to each other after or before shooting the scenes. Finally, no one got to see how Castles looked like without Katic, because it got canceled after the eighth season.
#8. Channing Tatum And Alex Pettyfer
Magic Mike, which was directed by Steven Soderbergh and released in 2012, was indirectly based on Channing Tatum’s adventures as a young stripper in Florida. After laughing so hard with the movie, everyone assumed that Tatum and Alex Pettyfer had undoubtful chemistry.
Well, they did play two close friends in the comedy, but that couldn’t have been farther away from their real relationship! Not only did Channing dislike Alex’s attitude in general, but he was also furious with his colleague when he stopped paying rent for the apartment in which he was staying together with a pal of Channing.
#7. Charlie Sheen And Selma Blair
Kudos to Pettyfer for accepting the blame, though: the actor said in an interview that the reasons for the bad vibes between both were predominantly his fault. On the other hand, Charlie Sheen showed little to none self-criticism in his fight with Selma Blair.
Selma played Charlie’s girlfriend on Anger Management, which only lasted 2 seasons. After the actress expressed her dissatisfaction regarding Charlie’s unprofessionalism to the producers, he got her fired. What a nice colleague!
#6. Will Smith And Janet Hubert
Fewer people are aware of the long-lasting feud between Will Smith and Janet Hubert. Yep, it’s hard to believe, but it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air set. In a viral clip, Janet revealed that she and other co-stars asked Will to help them fight for a raise.
According to Janet, Will didn’t support them in the negotiation, and the resulting bad blood only got worse with time. Hubert would end up leaving the beloved show after the third season, and the feud continues to this day.
#5. Jamie Foxx And LL Cool J
Jamie Foxx and LL Cool J are both known for their music and acting careers. 1999 was the year when the two young artists got in such a serious fight that the police had to intervene! That’s right, things got really spicy in the set of Any Given Sunday.
They wouldn’t cut it off, hence the police had to separate the brawl. Luckily, the Rock the Bells rapper and the charismatic singer of Gold Digger squashed their beef for good and Jamie even collaborated with LL on his Todd Smith album.
#4. Debra Winger And Shirley MacLaine
This clash proves that even some of the greatest movies of all time sometimes have stars with zero chemistry off-stage. We’re talking about Terms of Endearment, which received a whopping eleven Academy Awards nominations.
Yes, the winner of Best Picture at the 56th Academy Awards featured two actresses that constantly fought, and they were Debra Winger and Shirley MacLaine. When the movie was finished everyone assumed the beef had come to an end, but when both were later nominated for Best Actress, the rivalry regained impulse!
#3. Tyrese Gibson And James Franco
FYI Shirley won the Oscar and Debra was not happy. Remember when we talked about the argument between Tyrese Gibson and Dwayne Johnson? Well, The Rock isn’t the only actor with who Tyrese has had problems.
The reasons behind the tension between James Franco and Tyrese remain unclear, but what’s certain is that they didn’t enjoy each other’s company on the set of Annapolis. Some years after the movie’s release, Tyrese affirmed that he hoped they never had to share a film again. Ouch!
#2. Kenny Baker And Anthony Daniels
Most hardcore Star Wars fans remember an impressive amount of details about the franchise’s universe, but many tend to forget that actual actors are behind the robotic characters of C-3PO and R2-D2. These robots sure seem like pals in the movies, but it’s pure fiction!
Indeed, Kenny Baker and Anthony Daniels are the actors behind the robots, and when the former tried to say hi and strike a conversation with his colleague, only to be ignored, the bad blood between both started and continues to this day.
#1. Julia Roberts And Nick Nolte
For our number one behind-the-scenes feuds between actors, we have the confrontation between Julia Roberts and Nick Nolte. These two played a passionate couple in I Love Trouble, which came out in 1994.
Apparently, Julia was fed up with Nick’s chauvinistic comments, and their beef went on for several years. In fact, 9 years had already passed from the movie when she said in an interview that Nick was a disgusting person!
